I’m not sure who would own a Zune and an iPhone in the same lifetime, but if you are indeed one of those cross-platform junkies, and subscribe to the Zune Pass, then you will probably find this of great interest. With the new Orb iPhone app, you can now take your heavily DRM encrypted music that you rent from the all you can eat monthly Zune Pass, and stream it to your iPhone. You of course have to have a good 3G or internet connection, since using it on Edge doesn’t work too well. This is what you do.

After you download and organize your Zune Pass songs, setup Orb on your PC and download the iPhone App.  Your new Orb PC server will then transcode your songs on the fly and send them to your iPhone over whatever type of connection you are on at the time. You can select any song you want from your massive home collection, and won’t be limited to tuning into a certain live shuffle with no control over the song. It’s pretty simple to set up, but if you need more information head on over to Gear Live.

Note: Perhaps this will push Napster over the edge and finally release their rumored $5 per month streaming iPhone App?
